  3.      Installation Instructions for your Shareware Explorer CD-ROM

  11.     Always run the ACCESS program from a floppy or hard drive.  If you use
  12.     any of the commands that need to call DOS Execute a DOS Command, or
  13.     View Inside ZIPs, and there is not enough memory to load the extra
  14.     command in, the program will swap out to the current drive in order to
  15.     make room to run the command.  The configuration and file listing
  16.     format databases have to be on a floppy or hard drive in order for you
  17.     to make changes to them.

  19.     An option (ACCESS /nowrite) has been included so that you can run the
  20.     program from your CD-ROM without using any hard drive space at all, but
  21.     you will be unable to use all the features of the program for the
  22.     reasons above.  This is *not* recommended.  DO NOT RUN THE PROGRAM FROM
  23.     YOUR CD-ROM UNLESS YOU HAVE SPECIFIED THIS OPTION ON THE COMMAND LINE.

  27. Quick Set-Up
  28. ────────────

  30.     From your hard drive, type X:\INSTALL where X:  is the CD-ROM drive's
  31.     letter.  Follow the on-screen instructions.  The INSTALL program will
  32.     copy whatever files are necessary to your hard drive, and create a
  33.     batch file so that you can easily access your CD-ROM.  You'll need as
  34.     little as 27K of hard drive (or floppy) space to use all the features
  35.     of ACCESS.  For an additional increase in speed, the ACCESS program and
  36.     the files database may also be copied to your hard drive.  This can
  37.     require as much as 3-4 megabytes of free hard disk space.  Please be
  38.     you have sufficient hard disk space prior to running INSTALL.

  40.     Once the Installation program is complete, change to the location you
  41.     specified for ACCESS.BAT to be copied, and Type 'ACCESS" to begin
  42.     exploring your new CD-ROM.  Please don't forget to select
  43.     'CONFIGURATION' from the menu when you first use ACCESS.  It will you
  44.     to custom configure ACCESS to your own computer environement.

  47. INSTALLING MULTIPLE CD-ROMS

  50.     If you have purchased more than one of our Shareware Explorer Series
  51.     CD-ROM discs and wish to install more than one copy of the ACCESS
  52.     program on your hard drive, we suggest that you install the first one
  53.     in a subdirectory called \ACCESS1, the second in \ACCESS2, and so on.
  54.     After each Install is completed, you may also wish to rename ACCESS.BAT
  55.     to ACCESSn.BAT, where 'n' corresponds to the number of the last
  56.     installed \ACCESS subdirectory.  (e.g.  The batch file to the disc
  57.     whose data base is located in the subdirectory called \ACCESS1 would be
  58.     renamed ACCESS1.BAT.  Then, you can easily access any of the Shareware
  59.     Explorer discs by simply putting the disc in your CD drive and typing
  60.     ACCESS1 [Enter] to view the contents of the first CD-ROM disc, ACCESS2
  61.     [Enter] to access the second, etc.  Please remember that it will take
  62.     3 to 4 megabytes for each copy of the ACCESS program that is installed.
